HAPPY EASTER! WHAT DOES IT MEAN? (EASTER 2013)

Chapel of the transfiguration- Grand Teton Nat PKwebJesus said to her, “I am the resurrection. I am life. Everyone who believes in me will have life, even if they die.” [John 11:25 (ERV)]

If Easter says anything to us today, it says this: You can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise!” [Clarence W. Hall]

The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances. [Robert Flatt]

NOTHING CAN STOP HIM (HOLY SATURDAY 2013)

The next day, on the Sabbath, the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate. They told him, “Sir, we remember what the deceiver once said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise from the dead.’ So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day. This will prevent his disciples from coming and stealing his body and then telling everyone he was raised from the dead! If that happens, we’ll be worse off that we were at first.” Pilate replied, “Take guards and secure it the best you can” So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it. [Matthew 27:62-65 (NLT)]

What the Pharisees failed to understand was that neither rock nor seal, soldiers, not even an army, could prevent the Son of God from rising again! Nothing can stop our God!

IS THIS A “GOOD” FRIDAY? (GOOD FRIDAY – 2013)

God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. [1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)]

Good Friday: a day of agony and anguish, torture and degradation, betrayal and abandonment, sorrow and sacrifice. But the overwhelming message of this horrible day is one of love!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [John 3:16 (NLT)]

DO WE EVER WE BETRAY HIM (MAUNDY THURSDAY 2013)

Now Jesus was deeply troubled, and he exclaimed, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me!” [John 13:21 (NLT)]

Not me, Lord, I wouldn’t and couldn’t betray you! Or would and could I? Have I ever betrayed my Lord as Judas did that night or denied following Jesus as Peter did that same evening? Have I become inattentive to His words as the disciples did in the garden? Have I ever abandoned Him as they did while He suffered on the cross? Have I ever doubted, yielded to temptation, or forsaken my Lord? Unfortunately, the answer is yes.

Fortunately, just as Peter and the disciples were forgiven for their lack of faith, so are we. Moreover, just as Peter and the disciples went on to accomplish great things, so can we!

THANKS FOR ALL

Give thanks in all circumstances. [1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)]

When life challenges us, it helps to remember that either God sent it or allowed it! Life’s trials aren’t punishment, they are lessons. Each experience can transform us to be wiser, stronger, and more prepared for the next challenge (if we let it). So, we give thanks in all circumstances…even those we don’t particularly enjoy!
