Lord, when we remember the past, some memories bring regret and even shame. Thank you for this new life that comes with the opportunity to correct past mistakes and to make new and better memories.
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. Not only are you at my side, but you also have given me family and friends who are here to advise, assist and sustain me. Help me recognize when I need their support and make me willing to seek it. I know I am not perfect; take away my fear of admitting it.
O Lord, I usually pray that you will make my problems disappear rather than ask you to show me how to work through them. I want you to change my circumstances when you have given me the circumstances so I will change my character. Help me to learn your lessons so that I can become the person you want me to be.
When we’re worried about the future, it helps to pause and remember all the good things God has done for us in the past. Thank you, God, for all you gave us yesterday; may we have faith enough to entrust you with tomorrow.
Lord Jesus, I don’t deserve your love and there is nothing I can do to earn it. Forgive me when I exhaust myself in an effort to prove my worth and importance. Let me rest in your love, secure in the knowledge that, although I can never merit your love, you love me simply because I am yours. Thank you.
