The Peace of God is Promised

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)]

When Paul told the Philippians to be sure to present their requests to God in prayer, it’s important to note that he never said they would get exactly what they’d requested. What they would get, he told them, was the peace of God.

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. [Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG)]

THERE’S A RIGHT TIME FOR EVERYTHING

There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:
A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.
[Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (MSG)]

Life, like the weather, is seasonal. Some seasons last longer than others and some are more pleasant than others, but each season passes whether we like it or not. Let’s not waste our time looking back at past seasons or worrying about the future ones. Let’s enjoy the season we’re in and make every day count!

MORNING GREETING

2013-5-10

Give your worries to the Lord, and he will care for you. He will never let those who are good be defeated. [Psalm 55:22 (ERV)]

Good morning! This is God.
I will be handling all of your problems today.
I will not need your help.
Relax, and have a great day!
By the way, don’t let worry keep you from sleeping tonight.
I’ve got you covered.
I’m up all night anyway!

I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. [Psalm 16:8 (NLT)]

Help me, Oh God, to let go of my fears and reach out to you at all times, secure in the knowledge that you will steady me when I tremble and catch me when I fall. Thank you for always being at my side.

THE PREREQUISITE FOR PEACE

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you. [Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)]

“Oh, Lord,” I complain, “My heart is troubled, where is this peace you promise?”

“Foolish child,” He responds, “Where is the trust in me that is the requirement for that peace?”

Trust in The Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal rock.” [Isaiah 26:4 (NLT)]

PEACE OF GOD

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. [2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NIV)]

Father, let us take a break from the stress of every day and rest in your presence. We give you our worries and ask that you open our eyes to see your truth, our minds to understand your plan, and our hearts to feel your peace.
