He Will Never Abandon Us

I will lead the blind on unfamiliar roads. I will lead them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light in front of them. I will make rough places smooth. These are the things I will do for them, and I will never abandon them. [Isaiah 42:16 (GW)]

Thank you God, for being beside me even when I can’t see you or even feel your presence. Thank you for the reassurance that I will never have to navigate the dark times of life by myself. You will always be near.

Be strong, all who wait with hope for the Lord, and let your heart be courageous. [Psalm 31:24 (GW)]

HE IS FAITHFUL IN HIS WORDS

God always does what he says, and is gracious in everything he does. God gives a hand to those down on their luck, gives a fresh start to those ready to quit. [Psalm 145:13b-14 (MSG)]

Lord, sometimes, when we’re in the midst of turmoil, pain or sorrow, we find it difficult to feel your love or see your kindness. When we falter in our faith, forgive us; don’t let us quit believing in you. Please reassure us of your presence and help us see your hand in all that happens. Help us believe your promises.

CAN YOU TRUST GOD?

Blessed is the person who trusts the Lord. The Lord will be his confidence. He will be like a tree that is planted by water. It will send its roots down to a stream. It will not be afraid in the heat of summer. Its leaves will turn green. It will not be anxious during droughts. It will not stop producing fruit. [Isaiah 40:7-8 (GW)]

People make promises all of the time and, unfortunately, they often break their promises. (We do it, too.) As a result, we’ve become cynical and suspicious when promises are made. We ask ourselves if we should believe the promise and wonder what ulterior motives may be behind it. God makes many promises. Can we believe Him and trust his motives? Can we rely on His word? We can if we trust the one making the promise!

We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful. [Hebrews 10:23 (GW)]

OUR SOURCE

But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying “You are my God!” My future is in your hands. [Psalm 31:14-15 (NLT)]

Oh Lord, grant me the ability to truly trust you and not to waver in my faith. People, possessions, and even abilities will fail but you never will!

We will never be happy until we make God the source of our fulfillment and the answer to our longings. He is the only one who should have power over our souls. We have to put our expectations in the Lord and not in other things or people. [From “The Power of a Praying Woman” by Stormie Omartian]

BEYOND OUR SCOPE OF UNDERSTANDING

Just as you don’t know how the breath of life enters into the limbs of a child within its mother’s womb, you also don’t understand how God, who made everything, works. [Ecclesiastes 11:5 (GW)]

Even if God explained in detail exactly how he works, I think his answer would be way beyond our comprehension. When we ask how and why God makes things happen, perhaps the only answer we need is this: ”Because I am God and I love you.” That’s an answer we all can accept!

BE DIRECT

Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better? [Matthew 7:7-11 (MSG)]

If it is important to us, it is important to God; if it troubles us, it troubles Him, too. Just as no problem is too big for prayer and the Lord’s work, nothing is too small or trivial. It’s not up to us to decide what concerns God; we need to bring everything to God in prayer. Let Him decide what, if anything, to do about it.
